Classes for kids in grades 4-6.
We think kids are creative geniuses. Their imaginations are limitless. When paired with structured exploration, and given parameters for collaborating with each other, they can make real magic happen. The week-long summer classes in WIT Kids allow children to explore the acting and theater skills of stage presence, character, and scene play, with a focus on collaborative storytelling that connects everybody's emerging skills into one experience. Classes combine exercises and games designed to spark confidence and creativity, build teamwork, and increase listening and observation skills.

MORE ABOUT WIT KIDS SUMMER CLASSES:
WIT Kids Summer Classes for grades 4-6 are one-week sessions offered throughout the summer. The curriculum for each one-week session is the same, but each week will have different teachers and students, and thus will offer something unique and challenging. Improv skills build cumulatively, so taking more than one session will continue to yield new discoveries.
DAILY STRUCTURE:
9:30AM-12:30PM: Intro to Improv class taught by a WIT instructor, and focused on using short-form games to teach longform scenework.
12:30PM - 1PM: Supervised lunch
1PM-4PM: Continuation of improv class focused on using improv as a tool to create short, rehearsed performances.
Final day of session only, 4PM-4:45PM: Casual presentation of the classwork.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:
In addition to basic acting training, the summer classes focus on the following goals:
1. BE BRAVE. Students will take creative risks in a supportive environment, learn to challenge themselves, and be at ease outside of their comfort zone. Being brave is about using your instincts, taking action, and making clear, committed choices.
2. BE POSITIVE. Students will learn to collaborate with others by saying "yes, and...". They will understand the ins and outs of teamwork and flexibility. They will explore the balance of committing to one’s own choice, and making another teammate’s choice "look good."
3. BE PRESENT. Students will explore focus and observance of their surroundings, including their fellow actors. They will access honesty and awareness to discover the information and elements in each scene. They will use their awareness collaboratively to build stories and scenes toward endless possibilities.
